Helen Mirren rocks elegant royal blue number at Palm Springs Film Festival

In 2003 she was made a Dame in the Order of the British Empire for her services to the performing arts.

And Helen Mirren looked ever so royal on her latest outing. The 70-year-old actress looked elegant in blue as she arrived at the 27th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Saturday night.

Her royal number featured a low-cut V-neckline, long sleeves and a long silk maxi skirt upon her arrival at the event in Southern California.

She accessorised the look with a shiny silver belt, small powder blue bag and dangling earrings featuring large sapphires.

Her platinum blonde bob haircut was combed to the side as she wore natural, complementary make-up on her face highlighted by a swipe of red lipstick.

Looking good: the 70-year-old actress sported an elegant long sleeved royal blue gown.

Fashionable arrival: No doubt she turned heads as she arrived in a black Mercedes-Benz.

Mirren was at the event to present Bryan Cranston with the Spotlight Award as they greeted each other with a friendly kiss on the cheek on-stage during the presentation as they star together in drama Trumbo.

The legendary actress and 59-year-old Breaking Bad star even posed for a snap together on the red carpet before the star-studded event.

Mirren will hopefully coming home with a few awards herself soon as she recently scored three SAG nominations.

Big win: Mirren introduced and presented the 59-year-old actor with the Spotlight Award.

Leading the way for British actors, Mirren earned recognition for her lead role in The Woman in Gold and supporting part in aforementioned flick she stars in with Cranston.

The Woman in Gold sees the Dame play Maria Altmann, a Jewish refugee who took on the Austrian Government to recover an artwork she believes was taken from her family during the war.
